The Ninth International Conference on Methods and Applications of Fluorescence:
Spectroscopy, Imaging and Probes (MAF 9) will be held in Lisbon,
Portugal, September 4-7, 2005. The Conference will take place at the Tejo Hall
of the riverside Atlantic Pavilion, located in the beautiful Park of the
Nations (Parque das Nações), site of Expo 98.
The MAF conferences,
held in Europe every two years (Graz in 1989 and 1991; Prague in 1993 and 2003;
Cambridge in 1995; Berlin in 1997; Paris in 1999; Amsterdam in 2001), have
acquired high international reputation, and gather researchers dealing with all
aspects of fluorescence. The MAF 9 Conference is organized in the spirit of
previous meetings, and will be devoted to both new and established fluorescence
techniques and methodologies, and their applications in a wide range of fields.
The MAF 9
Conference embraces the areas of physics, chemistry, biology, pharmacology and
medicine, and covers all current issues related to fluorescence and
luminescence in general. Recent advances in fluorescence methods and
techniques, and in the development and application of fluorescent probes will
be of major relevance.
A total of twenty-six oral presentations will be made
during the meeting. Eighteen invited speakers with high international
recognition will present their latest results and evaluate the state of the
art. All participants are invited to bring posters that will be discussed
during four poster sessions. The Scientific Committee will select six to eight
oral communications (20 min duration) from these contributions.
MAF 9 is
expected to attract a large number of participants, owing not only to the
cutting-edge scientific content, but also to the attractive location and social
programme. The number of participants in the conference is limited to 350, and
for this reason early registration is strongly recommended.
This major
fluorescence conference will take place in the Atlantic Pavilion (see http://www.pavilhaoatlantico.pt ), in the Parque das Nações (Park of the
Nations) area, see http://www.parquedasnacoes.pt . The conference hall is the
ample Sala Tejo (Tagus Hall), with 67m x 34 m. This space will be
split in two parts. The first (ca 1/3) will be used for the lectures. The
exhibitor stands and posters will share the remaining two-thirds, where coffee
breaks will also take place. |
